We've reached the midway point... let's see how my predictions are holding up.

At the beginning of the year I put forth a series of predictions and maybe a resolution or two for 2009 (click the title above to return to that post). Let's see how they're holding up so far...

Prediction: UNC's basketball team is going to kick some serious ass. I love this time of year.

Result: National champions.

Resolution: I'd like to release at least two records in the new year, one by Battle Rockets and one by Where the Buffalo Roamed. I think this is realistic.

Status: I'm over halfway done with the studio work for A Wolf in the Works, the first Where the Buffalo Roamed record. There's been scattered talk of a Battle Rockets record but we've so far been selling dollar demos at shows.

Resolution: There are lots of cool music festivals in the triangle and I'd like to play a few. Specifically, I want to play Duo Fest in Durham.

Result: Played Duo-Fest, loved it. I've organized my own little fest on July 4th, Let Feedback Ring, and am obviously keeping my eye out for cool local megashows to get on. Troika, anyone? Here's hoping.

Resolution: It would be really cool to get on a Local 506 show with a post rock heavy hitter. I missed out on the Maserati show, I didn't know it was going on until recently. There will be another chance.

Result: My first Local 506 show is coming up July 29th with Irata. Win.

Prediction: The new Star Trek movie will make faithful Star Trek fans, such as myself, vomit with rage.

Result: I couldn't have been more wrong. Star Trek reaffirmed my faith in the franchise. I had been so jaded and thought all good Trek was behind us. Thank you so much, J.J. Abrams and crew. Fantastic film, a billion thumbs up.

Prediction: The Wolverine movie and Iron Man 2, however, will both rock.

Result: I haven't seen Wolverine yet but word on the street is not good, so we'll call this a failure of precognition. Iron Man 2 isn't out yet. It may not even be out until next year.

Prediction: Where the Buffalo Roamed will be playing occasionally, generally we'll be doing long weekends. I'd like to do at least one week long stint on the road, maybe in the summer.

Result: No more tours or minitours yet, but plenty of Chapel Hill action for this band. I'd say this prediction was partially accurate, but only because we haven't really taken to the road since the November tour with Finn Riggins.

Prediction: Battle Rockets will be playing a lot in the triangle and will do weekends on the road when we can.

Result: Can't argue with that.

Prediction: I'll move into a house with heat (this is a big one!)

Result: We bought a house with three sources of heat.
